Battle of the Bands

What is the Battle of the Bands?

The Battle of the Bands is a live musical competition where musicians showcase their talents and compete for the title of Best in Show!

How It Works

Application- Bands submit an online application with a sample video and/or audio track.
Selection-Our production staff review submissions and select the top bands to perform live.
Soundcheck- Selected bands receive a designated soundcheck time slot on the day of the event.
Stage Performance-
1. If performing in the Mad Lib Competition: each band gets a 20 min limit to perform their best tracks live on stage.
2. If NOT performing in the Mad Lib Competition: each band gets a 25 min limit to perform.
Mad Lib Competition- Each participating band is given a 1 min of a track made by our A/V Department in their respective genre. Each band is going to create 3 minutes of music to finish the 1 minute track for a 5 minute performance at the end of their set.
Scoring- Attendees will be voting on their favorite band via the website during and following performances.
Awards Ceremony- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place are announced in the closing ceremony.

Official Rules

Registration: All band members must be registered attendees of the convention.
Furry Theme: Fursuits, ears, tails are highly encouraged but not strictly required.
Originals & Covers: Bands can play original music or cover, however, the mad lib must be original music.

Time Limits & Equipment

Set Up and Teardown: There will be a 20 minute change-over in between bands. You have 10 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to teardown.
Personal Gear: Musicians must bring their own equipment including: drums, guitars, basses, keytar controllers, and specialized effects pedals. Microphones will be provided.

Content & Conduct Guidelines

Rating: All performances must maintain a PG-13 rating (no explicit sexual content, excessive profanity, or graphic violence).
Fursuit Safety: Performers wearing partial or full fursuits must ensure they can move and see safely on stage.
Stage Behavior: No stage diving, crowd surfing, or tossing items into the audience.
Pyrotechnics: No open flames, confetti, smoke machines, or liquids are allowed on stage without prior department approval.
